Beth Sholom Lifecare Community began the implementation of the renovation of the Health Center in February of 2016. There are 5 phases to the renovation project. It’s expected that the entire project will be finished by the end of 2017. The renovation was carefully planned to cause as little disruption as possible for residents. We are happy to report that Phase 1 is now complete and we are well underway with Phase 2, which begins with the renovation of the entire first floor. Phase 1 included new administrative offices, rehabilitation gymnasium and wellness center, a new lobby with a bistro and the renovation of the employee lounge.
According to Director of Rehabilitation Services, Betsy Cheney, “with the new gymnasium and wellness center we will better be able to simulate Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) which a person may need to perform when returning home”.
Beth Sholom’s continued commitment to providing care and quality of life programs is emphasized by its LSVT BIG and LSVT LOUD programs which are proven effective treatment programs for those living with Parkinson’s Disease and neurological diseases. Beth Sholom has several LSVT certified therapists, including our director Betsy Cheney, OTR/L therapy, who will be attending the World Parkinson’s Congress in Portland Oregon in September.
President and CEO, Mark Finkel, stated “the modernization of the health center will allow us to be more competitive and provide residents and staff a fresh and new environment”.
KBS, which completed the construction of the award-winning Parkside Assisted Living, is the same contractor for this renovation project. Sam Fisher, Superintendent on this project said, “at the end of the project residents, will feel as if they’re in a new facility”. The interior is designed by Bonnie Cauthorne, IIDA, ASID, a principal with Design Source.
