Beth Sholom Launches SeniorSAFE Shelter

In June Beth Sholom Lifecare Community hosted a celebration to launch its SeniorSAFE Shelter. The SeniorSAFE Shelter is a program that will provide safe, temporary shelter and advocacy for abused and neglected older adults throughout Virginia. “Beth Sholom is very proud to be a part of this program. SeniorSAFE Shelter is a natural extension of Beth Sholom’s mission to provide comprehensive and compassionate care for the elders we serve.” stated Mark Finkel, CEO of Beth Sholom Lifecare Community.

Beth Sholom will strive to educate the broader community about elder abuse and exploitation in all its forms: physical, sexual, psychological, financial, and neglect. Beth Sholom is dedicated to helping put physical, psychological and emotional pain in the past by providing a safe haven for elderly victims of abuse. With the dedicated partnership and generous support from the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond’s IMPACT Grant, Beth Sholom has begun to collaborate with some community agencies and organizations and will continue its efforts to develop a community of partnerships on behalf of these elders.

Guest speakers were:
Sam Louis Taylor, Regional Director for Senator Mark Warner
Tyee Mallory, Regional Director for Senator Tim Kaine
Emily Moore,  District Representative for Congressman David Brat
Tracy Johnson, Henrico County Adult Protective Services
